Spicy Black Bean Dip: So Simple & Delicious!

Rich and creamy with a bit of smoky spice; this is the Easiest and yummiest bean dip! Made from a box mix of black beans and a few added ingredients- this dip is a Winner!  Literally all you do is add boiling water along with a few spices and an oil. Super Easy, right?

Fantastic World Foods Black Beans as Spicy Black Bean Dip

I discovered this product years ago when I was a Vegetarian. Since I can’t eat Any seafood what-so-ever, I was constantly looking for healthy, easy-to-fix protein options. This box mix can be made into a delicious soup, a bean mixture for burritos, as a side, and is a camping-food- staple. So, I decided to try it as a dip…and it is Perfect. This recipe has been taken to many, many parties and pot lucks: every time changing in flavor just so and it is Always a Favorite ( and very often requested. ) Tomorrow I’ll be using it as a base for a 7 layer Mexican dip for a Super Bowl party! I can’t wait!!

Spicy Black Bean Dip Recipe

So, all you need to do is find this brand: Fantastic World Foods- Black Beans. Locally Ingles carries it in their rice/boxed grains section, and if your local store doesn’t carry it, you can request your grocer to carry it Or simply order it online.  I use olive oil in mine…just makes it a little bit creamier…and you can make this as spicy or smoky to your taste.

Spicy Black Bean Dip Ingredients

Recipe:

  • 1 Box of Fantastic World Foods Black Beans
  • 2 Cups Boiling Water
  • 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
  • 1 ½ tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1 ½ tsp. Chipotle Powder
  • 2 tsp. Cumin
  • 1 tsp. Fresh Ground Pepper
  • Salt to Taste

Place Black Bean mix in a heat proof glass bowl or large 1 – 2 Quart sized measuring cup. Add spices to dry mix and stir. Add Olive oil. Pour boiling water over mix and stir thoroughly making sure there are no clumps. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and weigh down with a plate. ( I like to do this since I always use my 2 Quart measuring cup- helps to keep steam from escaping.) Let sit 20 minutes: uncover and stir. Taste- add any more flavoring or spice to your preference. And…it’s ready to Eat!

Spicy Black Bean Dip
In Our household our favorite way to eat-up this dip is with a sour cream and drizzle of hot sauce as a garnish. Additonally, We Love to eat it  with Fritos Scoops ( because…..really? Who doesn’t Love Fritos!  A treat for sure! )
